IntermediateAnatomy Model

Description

A ready-to-print human lumbar spine mesh converted from a clinical CT DICOM series using embodi3D's democratiz3D service and mirrored to the NIH 3D Print Exchange. It is a plain anatomical model, not a phantom, but it is exactly the type of bony insert that DIY builders embed in gelatin, agar or ballistic gel to make lumbar puncture, spinal anesthesia and paramedian spine-scanning trainers. Suited to educators who want a real patient-derived vertebral column with natural spinous process spacing and interlaminar windows without doing their own segmentation. Download the single STL, scale as needed, and print in PLA; supports are required for transverse processes. When embedded in an echogenic gel, printed PLA bone produces a strong hyperechoic cortical line with clean posterior acoustic shadowing, making the spinous processes, laminae and articular processes easy to identify in transverse and paramedian sagittal views. No ultrasound testing or validation is reported on the entry itself. Limitations: no soft tissue, ligaments or canal features; licence is CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, which prohibits redistributing modified versions.
